Sunday MotoGP
Any chances of a Fernandez re-
peat were done by the first turn.
A false neutral forced him wide
before rejoining in 18th. Bezzec
-
chi and Martin were more than
Moreira (LCR Honda) and Fabio
Di Giannatonio (VR46 Ducati) all
got by on the first lap. Bezzecchi
was back in sixth after getting
caught between bikes on the run
to turn one.
Up front, Fernandez was
quickly off and running. Martin,
recovering from six crashes
in Barcelona, the last of which
damaged ligaments in his right
foot, didn't initially have that
kind of speed. But when he
started matching the Spaniard's
pace, he found he had to risk too
much to haul him back in. "Hon
-
estly, his speed was impressive,"
admitted the factory rider.
An emotional Fernandez
came home 1.2 seconds clear
Marc Marquez (93) and Pedro Acosta (37) went at it for
almost the entirety of the Sunday GP. Acosta would get the
position as Marquez's ring rust showed.
Francesco Bagnaia (63)
held onto the podium by
the skin of his teeth in
third ahead of Ai Ogura
(79), denying Aprilia a
clean sweep of the podium.
