was the only other one on the grid with a mathematical shot at the title (a second or better would push the title to the series finale). He looked fast all day in both dry and wet conditions, topping both qualifying sessions and winning his heat race. Ham - maker grabbed the holeshot in the main event but went over the bars in the first rhythm lane and dropped back to last place. A restart was a godsend for him, as it re-racked the field and allowed him another chance at a podium. While pushing for a pass on Bennick, Hammaker fell main event. I rode well before the restart and almost took the lead at one stage, but once the restart hit, I tried a little too hard and made a couple of mistakes. But all in all, it's good we're back on the box, so I can't be too mad at it, especially in those condi- tions." Hammaker came into Philly with a point to prove. On top of being his hometown race, the Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider great passes in his heat race and maintaining that pace in the main event. Bennick started well outside the top five but quickly worked his way into podium territory and later held off Ham- maker late in the race. This marks his fourth career podium, his second of the season, and his first podium that didn't come at the season opener. "I did get some wheelspin off the start in the heat race but rode good to come back to second," Bennick said.
