With clean air, Herrin stretched a 1.49-second advantage and set a new lap record of 1:27.554. Binder finished second after leading early and briefly setting his own record pace, ending just behind Herrin after losing drive late in the race when he acci - dentally hit his killswitch. Scott secured third but couldn't match the leaders' pace. Yaakov fin - GSX-R750. Blake Davis (Strack Racing Yamaha) recovered from a late mistake to secure third after Josh Hayes (BPR Yamaha) crashed while running strongly. Yaakov finished fourth while Herrin charged from 21st to fifth after an early off-track excur - sion, completing an impressive comeback ride through the field. Herrin wasn't done, however. Cooler conditions at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta deliv - ered improved grip, leading to multiple lap records across the weekend, including in Supers - Yet another piece of history was made by Kayla Yaakov, as the teenager became the first woman in MotoAmerica history to take a pole position on the Rahal Ducati Moto w/ Droplight Panigale V2, her margin 0.059 of a second over Tyler Scott (M4 Ecstar Suzuki) with Herrin third. Binder took his first Ameri - can road racing win in race one, leading all 18 laps to move within two points of the cham - pionship lead. Scott finished a close second, just 0.378 of a second behind on his Suzuki Darryn Binder (53) puts the style down on his way to the race-one win in Supersport.
