to control the track from the
front. He ignored the chaos
behind him and ran off to his
fourth victory in seven rounds,
further extending his lead to
a staggering 19 points in the
championship run.
"We went from last weekend,
250SX East points leader put
himself up front early and
easily marched away with his
fourth win of the season. Track
conditions didn't seem to matter
to Davies, who made it look
easy on the hard-packed dirt
and put himself in a position
be in a podium position for
the majority of the race. I'm
bummed; I wish I could've
brought it home. It would've
been nice to go from, 'Where
the heck has the 46 been,' to
a podium. That would've been
ideal, but I just need experience,
and we just did that."
Ferrandis was credited with
sixth, ahead of Justin Cooper,
Garrett Marchbanks, Colt
Nichols and Shane McElrath.
Tomac shared the red plate
with Lawrence going into the
race and looked to be in the
fight as he qualified fastest and
won his heat race. Struggles in
the main event, however, led to
Tomac crashing and finishing
13th, which dropped him to third
in the championship standings.
"The whole day was good,
other than the main-event
result," Tomac said. "I was
comfortable with my setup
all day, so I'm just frustrated
not only with the bad gate
selection—I should have avoided
the inside on the start—but
also, the crash. That bad start
really put me in a tough spot
from the get-go, and I had my
work cut out for me trying to
make passes on such a slick,
tight track. I lost a bunch of
points today, but all I can do at
this point is ride my best at the
remaining rounds and let the
chips fall where they may."
