VOLUME 63 ISSUE 15 APRIL 14, 2026 P79
continued to close in. A mistake
on lap 14 over the triple jump
let Lawrence by for the lead,
and another fall two laps later
stalled the Suzuki and dropped
him to fourth. Somehow, Roczen
recovered and put in another
effort to nab third in the waning
laps. A podium result keeps him
in the championship hunt, as he
overtakes Tomac for second in
the series standings, 10 points
back from Lawrence.
"I just felt a little bit off today
compared to the past few
weekends," Roczen said. "But
nonetheless, we still have only
four races to go, and anything
goes in the main event. I was
doing pretty good, and once
Hunter [Lawrence] got by me, I
was going to settle for second,
and that felt like it was a win for
me today. I ended up tossing it
right before the finish line, and
luckily, I got the bike started and
back going. I would have loved
to finish second, but I'll take a
podium. That's like a win for us.
We've got a bunch of racing to
go."
Chase Sexton took a close
fourth place. After crashing out
of last week's race and starting
outside the top 10 on Saturday
night, this was a positive for
Cooper Webb returned to the
podium in second place, marking
his best result since round
six in Seattle. The defending
Supercross Champion started
outside the top 10 but steadily
worked his way through the field.
Webb benefited from Roczen's
mistake and then found himself
closing in on the early leader,
Justin Hill. Already in a podium
position, Webb made another
push for second with seven laps
left in the race.
"This race was hard," Webb
said. "The track was sketchy,
and you wanted to push, but you
couldn't. I'm happy with second,
and we got through safely. I had
another terrible start, which is
not how you want to draw it up.
We've got some work to do to
catch that lead group, but I'll
take the podium after the past
few weekends. It's a good boost
of confidence for me."
A second makes it six
podiums this year for Webb,
and he still remains fourth in
the championship hunt, 28 back
from points leader Lawrence.
Roczen's two-race win
streak came to an end when he
finished third. The Progressive
Suzuki rider looked like his
recent self, jumping to the top
spot early and leading the first
half of the main. It seemed he
could make it a three-peat, but
deteriorating track conditions
didn't help as Lawrence
off the track, I did lose a position and
lost time. But the good thing is the
changes, time and work we put in
this week were in the right direction,
and we are making progress. We put
this bike in a top-five position, so we
achieved that goal, and now we can
aim for something higher and do even
better."
