Plessinger to Miss the Rest of Supercross Season R ed Bull Factory KTM's Aaron Plessinger will sit out the rest of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Plessinger suffered two hard crashes at the Indianapolis and Birmingham rounds and sat out the Detroit round to heal up with hopes of returning at this week - end's St. Louis Supercross, but it was determined earlier in the week that Plessinger had suffered a hip labral tear that will require inten - sive treatment over the next few weeks to heal properly. His priority has shifted to the opening round of the AMA Pro Motocross Cham - pionship, which starts in May. Plessinger said, "It's been a rough few weeks with some big-impact crashes on the race - track, and let's just say my hip, in particular, as well as my wrist, knee, arm and shoulder, are all screaming at me that they need more time to heal up. An MRI scan this week confirms that I have a labral tear in my hip, on top of being super-stiff and sore with a bunch of bruising. The idea of knowing I probably won't race the remaining rounds really disappoints me because the team has really put in the hard yards this season getting me comfortable, so not being able to show up for them feels like a gut punch to everyone because they all work so hard. But the team also supports not going out there and racing at 50 per - cent—we agree I need to be able to give it my best. I will focus on healing up properly with inten - tions of being back as soon as I'm fit and healthy to do so." CN WIND IN THE P28 Aaron Plessinger will sit out the rest of the Monster Energy Supercross Series and focus on the outdoor Pro Motocross Championship. Rea, Chantra In For Assen S ix-time champion Jonathan Rea will race for Honda again at WorldSBK in the Netherlands, April 17-19, while Jake Dixon's target for his WorldSBK debut has been revealed. Rea will return to the Honda HRC bike at the TT Circuit Assen when the FIM Superbike World Championship visits the "Cathe - dral of Speed." Rea will continue to substitute for Dixon as he recovers from the fractured wrist he sustained during testing in Australia, with Rea lining up once more alongside Somkiat Chantra. Rea scored points in his comeback at the last round at Portimao, finishing P12 in race two. Assen is a circuit where he has had success, with 17 wins and 25 rostrums in total. He will again stand in for Dixon, whose recovery is ongoing, with a target of the Hungarian round for what will be his WorldSBK debut. "[I] had the wires out, and [the] X-ray shows the bones are healing," said Dixon. "One step closer and feels good to let the wrist breathe after six weeks, and I get to start physio ASAP now too." CN Jonathan Rea will again fill in for the injured Jake Dixon at the Assen round of the WorldSBK Championship.
