"I'm so grateful," Deegan said. "This 250 career has been insane. As a kid, I wanted to win one championship; that's every kid's dream. This is number six. We're going to keep digging. I ain't done yet. I'm not done ticking [championships] off, and we're coming to the 450 class swinging." St. Louis marks Deegan's 13th career 250SX victory and ties him with a slew of athletes for second on the all-time 250 class wins list, including Nathan Ramsey, Austin Forkner, Jeremy McGrath and Jett Lawrence. Davies finished second at the line, making him the best East - ern Divisional rider on the night. The 250SX East points leader led early on and looked to be making a run at another Show - down victory. Unfortunately for Davies, Deegan continuously cut into his lead and made the pass after just six minutes. Davies didn't put up much of a fight, knowing his teammate is in a separate championship fight. A second-place finish still meant beating his title rivals, and Da - vies pulled his margin to double digits over Seth Hammaker. "I'm happy with tonight," Davies said. "That track was gnarly. I just rode it home. I'm happy I gained points [in the Eastern Divisional Champion- ship], because there was no need to push it in those condi- tions." Hammaker took a quiet third place, his fifth consecutive podium finish. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider was never much of a threat to his Star Racing Yamaha teammate Davies and made a surprisingly easy pass for the lead with nine minutes left on the race clock. Deegan gapped Davies by more than 15 seconds as Anstie finished a distant 15th, making it a successful champi- onship defense. mind. Should his closest rival, Max Anstie, finish fifth or worse, Deegan would clinch the title with two rounds to go.
