away that aren't there for me. I
want to win more than anybody,
but you've got to know when to
pull back, and second is what
we had tonight."
Jo Shimoda finished the night
in third overall. The Honda HRC
Progressive rider mentioned
he was dealing with an illness
and just seemed a tick off the
pace from the leaders all night.
As the laps wore on, he found
his hands full with Coty Schock
for most of the race. It looked
like Shimoda would settle for
fourth, but Schock's crash in the
event. He eventually succumbed
to Davies' whoop speed, but the
Daytona winner showed matu

rity by staying safe in second
place
rather than risking it to
go faster. With four podiums in
five rounds, he's still very much
in contention for the champion-
ship lead.
"I
got myself off to a pretty
good start and was riding okay
in the beginning," Hammaker
said. "I knew Cole was in the
back of the pack, but man, he
was riding good. I've got to give
it up to him. A solid second
on the night. I've learned from
and the fifth of his career in only
14 starts. Davies now enjoys a
nine-point lead halfway through
the 250SX East Championship.
"When I don't perform, I'm
pretty hard on myself," Davies
said. "But I'm stoked with that
main event. I know that's how
I can ride. I just put everything
together well. I didn't have a
good start, but I made it happen,
so I'm stoked with that."
