The Suzuki
rider started outside the top
10 and rounded lap one way
back in 12th place. Roczen
made it look easy on a track
that seemed hard to pass on
and quickly moved through
the field en route to a podium
position. Once around the two
Red Bull KTM's of Tomac and
Jorge Prado, the Suzuki rider
made a charge toward Law

rence at the front. A series of
hot
laps allowed him to close
the gap, but Roczen never got
close enough to strike. He
settled for second at the line,
which marked his best finish
since his win at round five in
Glendale. Another podium also
gave Roczen the edge for third
in the championship as he's

Jordon Smith earned his and
Triumph's first top 10 in the 450SX
class with ninth. "We took another
step in the right direction tonight," he
said. "We have got better each week
across the last four races, so we will
try to maintain that momentum. I was
much more in the mix in the main
event, and that's a positive to take
into this week's work."

19TH 250SX
Ryder DiFrancesco was third in
the 250SX West points going into
Birmingham, but a mechanical issue
dropped him outside the top 15 for
the night. "The heat race was so-so,
we charged to fourth and then in the
main event, I was making some good
passes in the beginning, and then
around lap two or three we ran into a
rear brake problem. I ended up pull-
ing into the pits, and the team fixed it
before I went back out and salvaged
what I could."

Hunter Lawrence dominated the
450SX main event and further
extended his points lead.
