THE GREAT MIKE HAILWOOD
March 23, 2026, marks the 45th
anniversary of Mike Hailwood's
death. Regarded the world
over as one of the very finest
motorcycle racers, Hailwood
claimed nine Grand Prix World
Championships, 14 Isle of Man
TTs, and was a front-runner in
1970s Formula One racing after
switching to cars. Hailwood and
his young daughter, Michelle,
were killed when a truck made
an illegal U-turn in front of their
car on March 23, 1981. He was
40 years old. Here, Hailwood
