second main. Hammaker fought
back in the finale and passed
Shimoda for second on the final
lap. This boosted his overall
score and broke his tie for third
overall with Daxton Bennick.
Hammaker now sits second in
the series standings, one point
back from Davies.
"It was a pretty hectic night,"
Hammaker said. "I couldn't get
off the gate too well, which kind
of cost me. I just didn't put my
-
self in great positions from the
start.
Thankfully, we salvaged a
podium. I was just riding in the
middle of the pack tonight and
"I think I got decent starts to-
day," Shimoda said. "Not the best
ones, but I
was able to sneak
around the inside and get up in
the front. I pulled it off as much
as I could, but I just need to ride
faster. I need to update myself
and the bike, and we should be
good. There's a lot more to go."
Seth Hammaker was the fast
-
est rider in the morning's qualify-
ing session, and he finished
third
overall for the night. Last
week's winner started strong
with a third in race one, but a big
crash in the whoops hindered
his performance to ninth in the
second overall in Indy. The
Honda HRC Progressive rider
played it safe all night and fol
-
lowed Davies in at the line dur-
ing the first two races. In race
three,
Shimoda battled with Seth
Hammaker, but an off-track ex-
cursion on the final lap dropped
Shimoda to
third. His second-
place finishes from the first two
helped put him on the box in
second overall. Shimoda ties his
season-best finish with another
second and has two podiums
in three rounds. He sits tied for
third in points, just two markers
behind Davies.
