Bou Adds 39th World Title
R
epsol Honda HRC's Toni Bou
was crowned X-Trial World
Champion for the 20th time after
winning the eighth round of the
season in Chalon-sur-Saone,
France, on March 6. He sealed
the title with two rounds of the
season remaining.
With seven wins from eight
rounds, taking his career total to
98 victories in the discipline, the
Montesa Cota 4RT rider over
-
came the handicap of not being
100 percent fit throughout the
season. His worst result of the
year was a second-place finish at
round three on Reunion Island.
Bou's statistics in the X-Trial
World Championship are impres
-
sive: 128 appearances, 98 vic-
tories, and 116 podium finishes
since 2007.
Bou took his 39th World title
overall, with another solid display.
From the first lap, he showed he
was determined to secure the
title at the first opportunity. After
the opening lap, he had a total of
five penalty points from the five
sections, placing him at the top
of the standings and sending him
directly into the final to meet his
teammate Gabriel Marcelli and
GasGas rider Jaime Busto. He
also secured the Superpole, with
a time of 0:54.3.
In the final, Bou was part of a
close lap, in which Zone 4 was
cancelled due to safety concerns.
The two Repsol Honda riders
battled for the victory, with Bou
prevailing for the win. Beta's Harry
Hemingway achieved his second
podium of the season with third.
"I'm very happy with how the
race went," Bou said. "Winning
the title is always very special.
It's been a different season for
me, as I've had to work incred
-
ibly hard with my shoulder injury.
I'm proud and grateful to every-
one who has helped me, be-
cause it's been a tough season.
So far, we've won every race but
one, and that's something I never
imagined achieving in 2026. It's
one of the titles I'm most proud
to have won."
The ninth round of the FIM
X-Trial World Championship is
scheduled for April 12 in Lisbon,
but before that, on March 14,
Seville will host the FIM X-Trial
of Nations.
