ROUND 8 / FEBRUARY 28, 2026 DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY | DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA P74 SEXTON SIDELINED Chase Sexton did not line up for Daytona after the Monster Energy Kawasaki team announced a hip and lower-back injury during his midweek prep. No word yet on how long he'll be out. Sexton has only one podium this season (a win at A2) and is currently tied for fifth in points after missing round eight. MIA Red Bull KTM's Jorge Prado missed another weekend of rac- ing as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury sustained at Seattle. RJ Hampshire is still recovering from a foot injury, and Jason Anderson was a no-show due to "ongoing medical issues." SWOLL PENALIZED Jalek Swoll was penalized two positions for "grooming in front of the gate" during the sight lap of the 250SX EAST main event. The incident was reviewed by an AMA official, which later war- ranted a two-position penalty post the main event. He moved from eight to 10th place. "Jalek made a massive improvement with both his riding and bike setup," said Jeremy Coker. "Un- fortunately, he was penalized two positions for stopping in front of his gate on the sight lap." SMX NEXT Daytona hosted the third race of SMX Next, where a third different racer claimed victory. Triumph Racing's Deacon Denno opened the race with the holeshot and the early lead before giving way to Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green's Kade Johnson. Briefly...
