VOLUME ISSUE FEBRUARY , P103 To use the tool, you simply line up the let- tered markings on the anvil with the appropri- ate location on the tool itself, and you're ready to begin the process. For us, it started with removing/breaking the old chain. To do that, we aligned the "B" (for "break") on the anvil with the "B" on the tool itself, positioned the tool in place over the chain, and tightened the extractor bolt until the pin on the chain pushed out. Do this on both pins, and the chain breaks, allowing it to be removed. Our new Regina chain is a rivet-type chain, so to install it we positioned the "R" for—you guessed it—"rivet" on the anvil with the "R" on the tool, added the press anvil to the bottom of the extractor bolt, and we were ready to rivet the new chain master link in place. It was that easy. We can't say enough about how well this tool is designed and how easy it is to use, so if you need to re- place your chain, do yourself a favor and buy the Motion Pro PBR chain tool. It will last forever, and you'll have peace of mind knowing that your new chain is properly installed and secure. Keith Dowdle • Solid tool that is easy to use • Great written and video instructions • Storage case is a nice added value • Solid tool that is easy to use • Be careful not to overtighten the rivets, or you'll have to start over again (ask us how we know). Nothing to do with the tool itself, just user error CHAIN TOOL The Motion Pro chain tool comes with a premium price, but you get what you pay for. It works well and, best of all, is very easy to use. STANDOUT FEATURE All-in-one design. RIDER ANALYSIS Recently we needed to remove the stock chain on our KTM 890 project bike so that we could test a new chain from Regina (that review is coming soon). Modern motorcycles require specialized tools to remove and replace the chain, so before get- ting started with the test, we reached out to Regina, an Italian company, to ask for recommendations on installing their new chain without damaging it. Without hesitation, they recommended the Motion Pro PBR chain tool. Motion Pro is well-known in the American motorcycle industry, but apparently, they're known glob- ally as well, which we thought was pretty darn cool since the founder of Motion Pro, Chris Carter, is also a recent inductee in the AMA Hall of Fame. So, we reached out to Chris, who graciously sent us the tool. Chris has over 30 patents to his name, and the PBR chain tool is a classic example of why. With this pioneering tool, you can do every- thing you need to replace your chain. From the moment you open the box, the product's quality is evident. It's housed in a sturdy case with all the pieces and parts well marked and with very clear instructions both in the box in written format and online in video format.
