to jumping. As a result, Barcia landed on Stewart, and both rid- ers fell hard. Stewart was slow to get to his feet, and Barcia required extensive medical at- tention on the track before being transported to the hospital on a stretcher. It did not look good for Barcia, although he managed to wave to the crowd—a reassur - ing sign. Fortunately, Barcia was released from the hospital with "just" a transverse process frac- ture of a vertebra, also called the "wing" part of the back, and is expected to recover fully. He also suffered a mild concussion. Stewart, clearly shaken, walked away with a separated shoulder. And Max Anstie, 32, became the oldest rider to win an AMA Supercross in the 250cc class, eclipsing John Dowd by a day. It's believed this is the oldest combined winners (450 and 125/250F) in AMA Supercross history. 450SMX Unfortunately, the A1 main event got off to a frightening start when the race was red- flagged before the first lap was complete. He had an up-and- down day and evening, qualifying 11th but suffering crashes in his heat MYOWNRACE The veteran Eli Tomac doesn't usually get too excited about things these days, but he certainly was at A1 after winning on the Red Bull KTM, his first AMA Supercross race with it.
