But while Salminen did come out and get back into victory lane, it wasn't in the same dominant style he had shown earlier in the season. ln fact, Salminen's seventh win of the season was the most thrilling of all, as once again Am Pro Yamaha's Charlie Mullins and Bany Hawk provided the challenge. The race came down to the last lap - the last corner, even - but Salminen was able to persevere and prove he is, undoubtedly, the man in this series. "l was sure we would have the challenge this year, but it looks like l'm ready for the challenge," Salminen said. "From the start I was dead last. I had to do a lot ofwo.k in the first two laps to pass all of those guys. lt was hard. I had to use a lot of energy." lndeed, Salminen started terribly and had to work his way up from dead last on a tight, muddy track. But he was able 58 JUNE?8,2006.
