I TN THE LITYTNET Team Suzuki Off-Road's Ryan Hughes broke his arm while competing in the Unclassified race the day before Sunday's WORCS race at Washougal, Washington, on June 10. Hughes, who leads the WORCS points standings, crashed on the motocross section ofthe course, in the whoops, and immediately returned home for treatment. lt is not yet known how lon8 Hughes will be laid up. The next WORCS race is in six weeks. KTI'I's Kellon Walch was also iniured in the same race and in the same section as Hughes. Walch, however, did not crash but landed heavily in the whoops, break- ing both ankles, one of them seriously. Pittsburgh Steelers quanerback Ben Roethlisberger crashed his Suzuki Hayabusa on Monday.lune 12, in Pitts- burgh and was hospitalized with undis- closed injuries, though they weren't believed to be life-threatening. "He was alert and conscious," said Emie Roman, shift commander for the Allegheny Coun- ty emergency service. according to ESPN.com- Witnesses told authorities that the player's motorcycle collided with a car near a downtown intersection and that Roethlisberger's head hit the wrnd- shield and was bleeding, Roethhsberger has said in the past that he prefers not to wear a helmet when riding, and he wasn't wearing one at the (ime of his accident. Ducati owners attending this year's Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Laguna Seca can receive a special parking pass that allows direct access to the infield area known as "Ducati lsland." These offlcial Ducati- only passes will be distributed at the laguna Seca will-call location, the Embassy Suites Hotel in Seaside, Califor- nia. World Superbike Champion Troy Corser was forced to sit out the Pirelli/FG Sport test at Brno in the Czech Republic on l'londay, June 12, after coming down with chicken pox. After a highly anticipated unveiling at Mugello during the ltalian Grand Prix, the Ducati Desmosedici RR will make its next appearance on American soil at the Red Bull U.S. GP held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, July 2l-23. The motorcycle will travel with the Ducati Corse lbam and will be on display for invited guests in the l4otocP paddork. The Desmosedici RR will also make a brief appearance on the infleld of Ducati lsland during the race weekend. The fourth annual GNCC Golf Touma- ment at the Wisp tees off at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, the day before the Parts Unlimited Wisp GNCC kicks off with ATV racing on Saturday and bike racing on Sunday. The game takes place at Wisp's l8-hole, par-72 course, The GNCC Golf tournament is open to any- one and everyone, and the game is played with teams of four in a best-ball, scramble format. Golf costs $50 for each team member, and the price includes din- ner at the Wisp after the game. All signup will be conducted at the Wisp starting at noon on Friday. He gave all the money he had been saving for his trip to the Amateur National Championships.
