Moro.rolr 338 Sourhwick, ,rlA Andrew Short gets it done in Southwick sand Short started the first moto in fourth, and then took Kawasaki's Team Green's Kyle Chisholm and Boost/Mobile Yamaha, ffamaha of Troy's Andrew McFarlane for second on lap four. Two laps later he was past Alessi and into the lead. Alessi stayed closed for a few laps, then Short was gone, winning by 5.057 seconds. "l iust can't start back there with those guys," Short said of not getting the holeshot, "l've got to continue to charge throughout the whole moto and l'll be there - Got to improve on the stafts." Alessi kept a steady second, even as HcFarlane's teammate Brett Metcalfe and Star Racing Yamaha's Matt Goerke made a combined late run. But he was able to hold on and get back up in the top three after a disappointing second moto at HiSh Point Raceway- "l learned a lot last year about iust being patient and iust trying to Eet as many points as I can every week- end," Alessi said. 'iAnd it's just so much about winning every moto, it's just being up there and being consistent and getting good starts obviously, which I'm good at." Metcalfe finished a second-plus behind Alessi after coming from l0th on the first lap. When he caught up to Alessi, he had no goggle tear-offs. "So coming from the back like that, it sort of screwed my race up," he said. Goerke was closing on lt4etcalfe when he was slowed by another rider on the final lap, taking a secure fourth, his best of the season. lulcFarlane was a distant fifth. Short had less luck in the second moto, finishing the BY HENNY RAY ABRA}Ts Pxoros oy Sr:vr Bruxx Ehe Toyota AMA l'lotocross Lites Champi- I onship is the complete opposite of its big ! brother. "Consistency is going to be the key," Short said, ''especially in our class. Everyone is so far up and down everyweek. I had two bad motos at the start of the sea- son that need to be my last, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
