Howeven Robbie Jenks had little trouble with the challenging course, as he was only seconds behind Nathan Kanney for the first two laps before pulling away to an almost six-minute victory by the end. As the racers lined up for the stan of the fifth National Hare Scrambles round of the year, another downpour started, but KTM's Shane Watts had no problems, as he took over the lead afte. the first left-hand sweePer and held it over the unique Maxxis Endurocross log sections. fu they mean- dered their way through the 1.S-mile grass-track, he showed why he is a past ISDE overall champion - he had no problem with the numerous ofl- camber turns and started to pull a gap on the star-studded field as they headed off into the dense forest sections. Watts' lead was short-lived, though, as Kanney came in on his RER Motorcity Yamaha with a slim three-second lead over the KTM'sJenks after lap one. Oregon's Daniel Fergason, California's Jordan Biandt, and Watts rounded out the top five. jenks, the Ohio rider and GNCC regular, made the lon8 trek out to Oregon wonhwhile, as in the early stages of the race he was never more than a few seconds behind Kanney. "l wasn't too concerned with not leading the lirst couple laps, as l've never been here or seen the terrain; so as long as lwas with the leaders, I was fine," Jenks said.
