This was also a District 3 points race. Young Honde pilot Phil Nicoletti &minated the 250cc Pro/Expen cla$ with l- l lini.hes, his second p€rfed score of the series, and he'i now tied in seriei poinB vyith veteran Suzuki pilot Barryf Carsten, with 20 points apiece after three of five rounds, The 25ftc ko/Expert class lined up for the staft of their openinS moto, iust three riders .hort of a full 8ate. Nicoletti tot a hu8e holeshot but war relinquished to second in the aecond turn by Babbitr Enxus Oil Kawasakisponsored Darnien Plotts. Trailint Nicoletti were Carsten, Alex SiSismondi and.Jack Carpenter. Nlcoletti closed the Eap on Plotts and made the pass for the lead at the tail end of lap one. l,leanwhile. the batde for third through sixth was on among Carsten, Sigismondi, Carpenter and Mitch DouEherty. Carpenter made the pass on Sr8iimondi on the downhill "Carmichael triple..aking fourth- Nicotelti had a five-second advantaSe on Plotts on lap three. when the leaders descended the National hall, the top three were unchanged. Dougherty and lay Weller were now runnint fourth and fifth. Carsten closed the gap on Plotts, and the tvvo bactled rhrough the first hal{ of lap four. Carsten came off rhe National hill in secondi Plotts dropped to third. Plotts bobbled at the base of the hill, which let Carsten pull away. Dou8herty and Weller held fourrh and fifth. Nicoletti did the Carmi.hael" triple on the last lap, landin8 it with only one hand on the bars and the other in the air in a lriumphant, winnin8 wave to the crowd. Nicoletti finished with a seven-se(ond advanta8e. Cars@n. Plotts, Dougherty and Weller rounded out the top five. Ni.oleni, Dough€rty and Plotts led the stan of the final moto. with Weller and Dave Sterritt in tow. Nicoletti had a six-second lead at the start of lap three. Doughef/ held second, and Plotrs and Weller were battling for third. Weller made the pass on Plotts in the first turn on lap three, takin8 rhird. Plotts seemed to just let Weller aake the posiaion. Nicoletti 8oE another easy win, finishing with a six-second lead. Dougherty, weller, Plotcs and lyler l'leda8lia rounded out the top five. Nicoletti topped the box with anoaher perfect l-l tally. Dougheny's 4-2 score was good Ior runner-up, and Plotts closed out the podium with a l-4 tally.
