The Ritz Carlton
in Half Moon Bay, California,
played
host to the inaugural The
LeSend of the l'4otorcycle
Concours d'Elegance May 6. Organized by
)ared
Zaugg,
the event
was
dubbed
as the bi8gest motorcycle show of
its kind, and
featured a vast array of motorcycles span-
ning the
past
century
Erik Buell,
Jesse James,
Arlen Ness and Men Lawwill
participated
in the event. Buell, founder and CEO
of Buell
MotorcTcle Company,
iudged
the
lndustry Award.
The show contained numerous
pristine
early tlventieth
century lndians, Harley-DaVdsons, Crockers,
Nortons,
and Excelsiors. The bikes
from
this era
were
''daily
riders,"
board-track racers, and early off-road motorcycles.
As one moved through
the show the diversity of bikes
expanded to more specialized
American and British bikes.
One star of the show was the lndian featured in the
recent movie Ihe
World
s
Fostest Indion- The bike, which
was raced at Bonneville by
Australian Burt l"lunro, has
been housed in the United States its entire life since
