Thirteen hear races would set the stage for the l0 main events that followed. Excitement was high at the prospect of amateurs being given the chance to race on the same track that the Supermoto National was raced on just the day before (minus the Parts Unlimited Urbancross iumps, due to insurance concerns). Twenty-two riders saged for the 250cc main event. Vvhen Don Canet's green flag 0ew, the Dunlop-shod Honda of Jeramy Toye and the Husky of Joey hscarella hit tum one, side by side. hscarella \tas quicker into tum two and took the had, lvith shift's chad cose in d d ard Honda's Garrett Willis in foufth. fu the pack emerged from rhe dirt sec- tion for the first of seven times, hscarella led, Cose was now in second, Willis was third, Three Brothe6' Brian Barton was fourth, and Scuderia West's Andrew Dickon was fifth. Toye had problems in the dirt and was now running midpack. Three laps in, fuscarella had a thres-. second gap over Cose, who now had Willis nippingat his heels. l.4eawhile, fight- ing from midpack starts, Foster Freeze's Roger Hensley and Charlie Venegas were moving forward. No one could match the l3-year-old Pascarella's pace, whose fastest lap wzs one minute and 27 seconds flat. He won with a margin of more than six seconds, Cose held off Willis for sec- ond, Hensley topped Venegas for fourth, and Toye fought his way back up ro sixrh. hscarella was in another ZIP code in the 85cc class, in which he took his second victory of dle day. He would lead from the start and was never challenged.
