Buffolo Bill's Cosino Primm, N\/ SUPERMOTO Round I Agtil 7-9, 2006 sNV SupGrmoto Stat€lin€ Challenge/STTARS Southw€st Serics 3 I Sunday brought another win to the TLD team, as Carsidy Anderson dominat- ed the 250cc race and collected a chunk of the $1000 purse donated by SuperMoto Rocer maSaz ine- Graves Yarmha's Brandon Currie looked like he could match Andersorls pace, but a crash in the dirt put *le 2005 AMA Supermoto Lites runner-up out of contention. Mach I Yamaha's Danny Casey and KTM-mounted Leonardo Bagnis ioined Anderson on the podium, while Red Baron's David Pingree finished fourth in his 250cc debut, iust ahead of Currie, who rebounded ta fifth. Racers drew numbers from a hat to determine starting positions in the Nvo heat races for Sunday's Open Pro race, which featured a $5000 purce. Founeen- year-old Frankie "El Ni6o'' Garcia, who was banling with Fillmore for the lead in heat mce numLrer one, crashed out short- ly after returning to the paved section of the course. The crash brought out the only red flag ofthe weekend, and the race was restarted after a short delay. The 2005 AMA Supermoto Unlimited champion, Dymond, was sidelined with a broken triple clamp in his heat race and was then taken out by an overzealous competitor on the first lap of the last- chance semifinal. Dymond picked up his fiM and got it started as the pack raced off, leaving him half a lap behind the lead- ers, Dymond then went on a three-lap rampaSe that saw him miraculously catch allthe way back up to second place, which rransferred him to the last row ofthe main event's sta.ting Srid- ln the final, Fillmore got another holeshot, but this time Ward made it through turn one clean, passed for the lead before the halfway point of the race, and won the third race ofthe weekend for the TLD team. Fillmore hung on for sec- ond, with Herfoss, Nicoll and Drew rounding out the top flve. Seven-year-old Josh Serne raised money for the Cystrc Fibrosis Foundatron through his racing. Yet, the question is constantly asked, "ls super- moto here to stay, or is it just another trendy extreme sport that will fade away?" Anyone who was in Primm, Nevada, for the second annual Stateline Supermoto Challenge, presented by Maxxis and RideNgw Powersports, will tell you that supernoto is certainly here to stay. More than 500 competitors from Australia, Canada, France, Grear Britain. .lapan and 17 U.S. states converged on Buffalo Bill's Casino for the largest super- moto race to date.
