lgth Annual Elubman's All-British Weekend Britain's Best! ln what is likely the largest premier British-only motorcycle show on the West Coast, well over 2000 enthusiasts were treated to 105 pris- tine pieces of British iron on display in San.lose, California, March 25- 26. thank to the BSA Owner's Club of Nonhern California- Featured were scores of BSAs, Triumphs, Nortons, and many other lesser- known marques such as Royal Enfield and Rudge. This year's guest of honor was former BSA racer Kenny Eggars, winner of the 1954 Wil- low Springs Road Race National. The People's Choice award went to Mickey Peters' mint 1963 BSA Rocket Gold Star, while fuul Adams' 1952 Norton l'lanx was voted top 1900- 1983 road race machine. Some of the other show favorites included Don Harrell's 1960 BSA Spitfire Scrambler trials bike as well as a pair of 1963 and l97l BSA Gold Star's owned by Timothy Ryan. Since the debut of the show in 1988, a classic British motorcycle has been raffled off to one lucky attendee- This year's two-day event featured the raffle of a pristine 1967 BSA Spitfire l'1K3, and Jeff LaMat- tina, a BSAOCNC member from Greenville, California, was the lucky Also part ofthe event was an all-British motorcycle ride from Los Gatos into the Santa Cruz Mountains. Nearly 50 bikes made the trek, with license plates spotted from as far away as Oregon, Washihgton, and Nevada, as well as a huge contingent of bikes from California. BSAOCNC's Barry Porter offered the following: ''The club would like to thank Kenny [Eggars] for the support of the British bike €ommunity with his participation at the Clubman's show" Porter said. "We would also like to acknowledge his Sreat racing career, his successes riding BSA motorcycles, and his membershiP in the AMA Hall of Fame. We are very proud he could make the time to be our guest of honor. The 20th Annual Clubman's weekend is already planned for March 24-E,2OO7."
