Throughout the series, Canada's hassles with Nick Paluzzi in 85.c events have been $emendous dices, but when the younger Palurzi, riding a Powerhous€/R&D Yernaha, eked ou! rhe 85cc Open and 85cc Supermini wins the previous week at Av Motoplex, one miSht expect Canada to come back fi8htin8. He did, and found ii a thre€-way swaptest, when Chris Plouffe joined the series for dle first time. The most interestinS tusrle came in the Supermini contegt. Holeshot artist Canada led on his Thousand Oaks/Spy/l'laxima/Hansen l,lotorsports/Renthal Yamaha until lap three, when he fell, handin8 the le.d over to Paluzzi, with Plouffe close behind- Canada rebounded quickly and b€gan to close on second, and took it when Plouffe toppled his Factory FX/Answer/Six Six One/Sunline/Twin Air Honda. Canada passed Plouffe for the lead on the second lap, followed by Felurzi, who took over second on l+ three. only to lose it when he himseffspill€d a lap later Momentum Soing into the finals was also a priority for Travis Baker. looking to be the leader in multiple classes, but the Alloy/ ShoeifforcoAmitl/l'lontclair Yamaha rider 8ot stunned by Langham, who siwept all six of his motos aboard a pair of WBRffoshimura/ TLD/DraSon/AmeriBn Stflukis. Even thouth he led from start to finish in both 250cc lntermediate motos. his l25cc lnlermediate and Schoolboy outin8s were all come-from- behind affairs. ln the first I25c. moto, he passed Yamaha- moumed I'latt Gom€u near the midway point and held on, while Eaker worked to overcome a poor 5tart, passint Gomez for second iust two turns from the checkers. Baker then jumped out in front in the second stanza and held it almost to the white flaE, when LanSham cau8ht and passed him for an apparent overall vi(ory But Baker tenaciousba fought back and yanked it away three turns later, ln the whoops past the turn-two tunnel, the lead was exchanged agajn, this time for tood. Baker also nailed the holeihot in the first Schoolboy moto and wai again nipped by t-antham on the final lap. His shot at the ovemll beSan to e\/'aporate when t-angham pess€d him for second on lap two of the second moto. Again, Baker would not give up easily, and he repassed lanthafi momenB later, but when he lo3t second within the same lap and then later fell, it was over. Meanwhile, Maxxis/Spencer/ Oad Racint-backed Honda rider Shawn Hohr, who'd placed third in the first moto, l€d for the firsr half before slippint behind the .harSing Lantham for the duration. Baker did claim on€ victory however, acing the 125c. Op€n contest. over Gomez, in both mo(os. ,oey Rossi, who has been unbeatable in the l25cc.luniors in this series on his Cycle GearApy/Ky'e/FBC Honda, tested the waters against the lntermediates and placed a respectable third.
