But to prove his performance was no flLrke, Stroupe had to back it up with a similar effort. Prevailing despite shutouts were a pair o[ Travises - Freistat and Baker, each capping the seri€s with a pair of first-place plaques. Freistat's best effort of the day aboard his Fl'lF/Forscott Honda was as runner-up in the Four-Stroke Amateur contest, but he stall claimed the title in that clais, as w€ll as in the 250cc lntermediate class. Baker rode his Torco/Smith/Alloy/Sho€i Protec Yamaha to the top Schoolboy and l25cc lntermediate honors, with has best showing of the day a second to Stroupe in Schoolboy action. Stroupe's attempt at another perfect 44 laps led was dashed in the second l25cc lntermediate moto when his shock blew after his first-moto win. He jumped to another bike (unprotested) - a two-stroke - and got off slowly but managed to carve his way throuSh the field, taking the lead on lap three of the five-lapper from Pro Circuit/VP Fuels/ Chaparral Honda's lustin Workman.
