Honda Rider's Club of America - sponsored drag-racer Kent Stotz has earned a new nickname around the paddock: "Mr. 200 mph." The four-time national champion scorched the competition on his tur- bocharged Honda CBRI l00XX with five consecutive 200-plus mph passes on his way to the Pro Street class victory at the Bike week Nationals at South Georgia Motorspons Park, Valdosta, Georgia, March 4-5. lt was an unbelievable show for fans, who witnessed Stgtz setting and resetting ET and top-speed records a total of l0 times in all. ln qualifying on Saturday, Stotz set new records for ET and top speed with a 7.303-second run at 201 . I 0 mph. But that was just the beSinning. After ripping off a 7.307-second pass at 200-62 mph in the first round of eliminations on Sunday, he lowered the ET record again in round two with a 7.284-second run, again topping 200 mph at 200.32 mph, Then in the semifinals he eclipsed both the ET and top-speed .ecords with an incredible run of 7.275 at 201.82. His performance in the final was another marvel of consistency; the 7.284 run at 201 .46 marked the fifth time in two days that Stotz topped 200 mph, an Olympian fear in streer-tire drag racing. StoE's early-season success follows a strong flnish in 2005 when he set the a o o o P quickest ET and fastest top speed for the Pro Street competition - 7.358 seconds at 195.87 mph - at the Al'4lvProstar World Finals in November in Gainewille, Florida.
