The weather was perfect' and the promot€rs and track continue to be California's best. Young Margaret Nichols took che 50cc C class around the tGck in front from pole to pole, and her little brother Charlie Nichols, who is iust 4 years old, rode his 50cc with training wheels to a win, too. Their dad, Jim Nichols, comes to Chowchalla each we€k with the kids bikes and his Honda 100 in the back of a very well-used, gray pickuP truck. A couple of weeks a8o, just before Valentine's Day, this haPPy family brouSht a box of candy for the each of the Chowchilla scorekeepers (the two people who Probably have the most diffi.ult and thankless iobs at the track). lim comPetes each week on his 100 and has a lot of fun, and he prepares the kids and their equipment. too. Jim is a sinSle father who gives his all for his young children. New faces in the barn this week included.loe Steffen and.lim Wood. Steffen worked the track like the pro that he is, finishing lirst in the Open A money class. Donni€ Harrell had a lot of fun on this night; he also currently leads ahe Points chase in the Open A class, flnishing {irst ifl front of Chris Borjas and Jesse Sle€per. Wood - the tather o{ anoth€r Chowchilla winner,limmy wood - enjoyed the Chowchilla track, finishinS a fast second in the Open B event, b€hind Brent Tiernan, and then came back to finish che Over 40 A event in the front spot.
