Former World and U.S. Speedway Champion Billy Hamill was making his last supermoto race aPpearance of rhe year before headin8 back to EuroPe, and former At'4A 250cc GP Road Ra.e Champion Chuck Sorensen was making his first suPermoto appearance aboard the Scuderia vGst KTM 525. Gregg Cook, out of the 3 B.others stable, took point ofI the lane in the lnrermediate main, followed by l',like Deloa.h, Graham Gustin and Matt Beavers. Within the firsc halt lap, Cook opened up an eiSht-bikelength 8ap, while Deloach was under attack from Gustin and Beavers. Lap two sa\,, I Brothers/QTM s Brian DeGerald slip past Motion Pro's Ricky Wells tor fourth, while Cook was Settin8 away at th€ front. By lap seven, Beavers had pushed past Gustin for third, where he would stay. Gustin went down with I l/2 laps remaininS. but he kept it running and didnt lose founh spot. Deloach, with the fastest laP of the race, still had to settle for second. since Cook wes lonS gone out front- Of the three classes Sorensen enter€d, the Novice marn was where he did b€st. Palmer Lancaste. 8ot the iump at the stan, wirh Phil wood, SNV Supermoto's l'larche Karger, and wes Kinkopf rn tow. A lap and a half in Sorensen had advanced from sixrh to third, lowerinS his lap times with each circuit. With three laps completed, KarSer had slipPed to fifth, and Lancaster was Setting away from Wood at the front. Ar the hallway point, KankoPf, who was pressuring Sorensen, got overzealous and rammed Sorensen's backside, causinS Kinkopf to 80 down. Sorensen made the save and continu€d on in thrrd. By laP six, Lancaster. having trouble, was running midpack, while the lead wenr ao Wood, and Sorensen advanced to second- Ryan Ferris, riding solid and consistently, took third, ahead of Kyle Ferris. The Gary Tr.chy show (arrred ,r< momentum throu8h the 450cc and OPen Expert clasies, Eoin8 undefeated in four rounds (or €ight main events) aboard the GP Cycles Husqvarna. Hamill was the only rider to re-ally lead Trachy, which he did for 2 l/2 laPs in th€ 450cc main. Cameron Welsh has enioyed the same success in che 250c. ranks on the Del Amo Motorsports Yamaha.
