Stroupe Stars at GNC Finals Kawasaki Team 6reen Extreme's Austin Stroupe and fiI4's 65/85cc young ace Jessy Nelson left their mark with four wins each at the 30th annual FMF GNC lntemational Hotocross Final in Decatu( Texas, March 14- 19. Nearly 1800 riders converged at Oak Hill Motocross Park, where Stroupe emerged as the lop motorcycle-class rider, winning championships in the l25cc lntermediate Stock and Modified, l25cc Open, and 99-250F Schoolboy (12-15) Modified classes, while Nelson led the 65cc (10- I l) Stock and l'lodified, 65cc Open, and 85cc (7-ll) Modified classes. Matt Boni was one of three riders to claim Triple Crown Championships. Boni won the 250 Pro, 250 A Modalied, and 125 Pro classes, and Honda's Tyler Bowers claimed his three championships in the 250 lntermediate Modified, 250 Open. and 450F Four- Stroke Non-Pro Modilied classes. The AMA Supports Kempthorne Nomination The Al"lA has announced its support of ldaho Governor Dirk Kemptho.ne, who was selected last week by President Bush to be the 4fth Secretary of the lnterior. The nomination of Kempthorne, an avid street motorcyclist and off-hi8hway enthusiast, was announced during a ceremo- ny at the White House. lf confirmed by the Senate, Kempthorne would succeed current lnte.ior Secretary Gale Norton. "The AMA congratulates Governor Kempthorne on his nomination, and we believe that it's a promisint sign for the future of responsible off-highway recreation," said Edward Moreland, AMA vice president for govemm€nt relations.
