Grant admitted that the whoops made the difference in this one. "The track was suited for me, but the whoops weren't," said Grant, who also finished second last year at Daytona, "l struggled ali night in the whoops. That was the key to this race tonight. The rest of the track, I was good, so that lthe whoops] is one thing l've got to work on this week, because that's where I lost most of my time." For Gosselaar, he ended up having to work hard to get on the podium. He spent much of the race chasing Team Boost l'lobilelfamaha of Troy's Branden Jesseman, who got around Gosselaar for third on the second lap. For the next nine laps, Gosselaar chased Jesseman before passing him and getting his third place back. All the while, SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Honda's Tommy Hahn was lurking behind in fifth, and he eventually staned sticking a front wheel in on the Gosselaar/lesseman battle. Hahn eventually got around Jesseman, who ended up falling near the end. Hahn ended up finishinS fourth, right behind Gosselaar. ''That was the hardest Supercross by far I've every raced, l'll tell you that,'' Gosselaar said. ''l'm happy to flnish on the podium; that was my Soal for the year - to try and finish on the podium in every single race." Gosselaar admitted that he was struggling in the whoops. "Davi's like 8 feet tall, where he can get on the back fender and pin it through there,'' Gosselaar said. "l had a hard time in the whoops, but iust everywhere on the track, I need to charge harder in the beginning. I was just off the pace tonight. Josh and Davi were better than me all night, so I need to work on my speed, that's for sure." Jesseman held on for fifth, while Kelly Smith, on the Motospod MDK Honda, ended up sixth after getting oll to a l2th-place start. Unbound Energy/Moto XXX's Honda's Joshua Summey also climbed up a few positions to nab seventh, while Star Pacing/NCY I/amaha's Bryan .lohnson, Red Bull KTM's.lay Marmont, and GPS Racing's Michael Blose rounded out the top 10.
