Happenings ln Motorcucling HorIey-Dovidson Museum Unvei Ied HarleyDavidson recently unveiled designs for the Harley- Davidson Museum development, to be built on 20 acres at the corner of Sixth and Canal Stneets nean downtown Milwaukee. "The design plan for the Harley-Davidson Museum and its site incorporstes striking urban-design elements and engages the sunrounding water and green spaces," said museum director', Stacey Watson. "lt also unit€s the city centen with the Menomonee Valley and reflects the indus- trial heritage of the area and of Harley-Davidson. " With an anticipated opening date of 2OOB, the 130,OOO squane-foot museum development will feature exhibit space as well as a restaurant, caf6, n8tail shop, meeting space, special- event facilities and the HarleyDavidson corporate archives. "The Harley-Davidson Museum will add yet anothen wonld-class attraction to Milwaukee and showcase our ci{s proud histony with an industry icon known worldwide," said Milwaukee mayor, Tom Barrett. "l am particularly proud of Harley€avidson's use of greendesign elemenls to nedevelop this sit€ into a landmark that will funther cement Milwaukee as a destination for visitors and Harley-Davidson enthusiasts from our region and beyond." The Harley-Davidson Museum design has been in development for mone than a year and included ext€nsive input from Milwau- kee city officials. Harley-Davidson plans to break ground for the museum later in the finst half of 2ffi6. When completed, the museum is expected to attract an estimated 35O,OOO visitors each year fnom around the world. Federico Manoli, Ducati Motor Holding president and CEO, is launching the new Desmoblog, the official corponat€ blog from the Bongo Panigale factory. ln this blog [the word blog comes from "web log" and refers to a sont of online diaryl, Minoli himself will wdte about what is going on at Ducati and in the world of Ducatisti such as decisions being made about the motorcycles, Ducati events anound the world, corporate stnategies, behind the scenes reports fnom the rccetruck and much more. one of the goals of Ducati has always been to keep the lines of communication open with the Ducati community, as well as the motorcf cling world at large, and the Desmoblog gives the company the opportunity to move to a new level - to cneate a direct dialogue between blogger and reader. The Desmoblog provides an opportunity to share the fever fon Ducati, to get real comments and to nespond to them. "As I pnedicted yearc ago, the Intennet has become a strctegic instnument that allows Ducati to gnow," explains Fedenico Minoli. "l believe that a blog writ- ten directly by a company's president is an innovative communica- tion and marketing tool, but also, and above all, another way to offen the international tnibe of Ducatisti a real human face to dialogue with.
