RCA Dome Indionopolir, lN avi Millsaps tumed the tables on losh Grant by taking advantage of a mishap by Grant to win round three of the Amp'd Mobile AMA SX home with his first-ever SLrpercross win. ln lndianapolis, it was Grant who was the fastest man on the track during the Lites mdn event, postirE a 5 I .686-second fastest lap time, compared to f4illsap's best time of 52.080: and ir was Grant who was s€eming- ly pulling away to a second straiSht win in the series. But Grant fell while trying to avoid a fallen rider on lap l0 of the I SJap race, handing the lead to Millsaps, who held on for the win. Grant recovered to finish second, while l.lonster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Chris Gosselaar finished third- I4illsaps now has two wins in three starts and sits 18 points ahead of Gosselaar in the series standinSs, 72 poins to 54. Yamaha of Troy's Branden Jesseman dropped to rhird owrall with 52 points after linishing seventh in lndy. while Grant moved inro fourth in the standings. with 47, after a DNF at the opening round in St. Louis. "lt's not the way I want to win, but it's a win and Ill take i(," l'4illsap,s said. 'l'm iust Soing for the championship now and taking in third. Smith left the door open in tum two, allowing both Grant and l''lillsaps by, with Gocselaar following suit a few turns later Jesseman and the star of last week's Cinderella story, Star RacinS's Martin Davalos, crashed in turn one and finished the lirst lap near the back of the pack. On lap three, Millsaps passed Grant for the lead, but Grant didnt back down from the factory Honda rider and retook the lead in the next tum. "He went by on the inside of me, and I knew he was going to do it, because he was faster than me in that section," Millsaps said. F'lillsaps closed again and tried to make another pass, this time in the whoops, but Grant blocked f4illsap's momentum in the next comer. That move either spurred Gmnt on or discouraged lYillsapc. as Grant slowt start- ed to pull away from Millsaps, who was now either contert with second place or had decided to pace himself. By lap 10, Gnnt had gapped Millsaps by more than two seconds and was pulling away. However, on the next lap, GPS Racing's Chris Blose cased it on a ,ump in the triples, forcing Grant to take e\asi\.e actions. "l was commked to doing the triple before I saw him down," Grant said. "l turned at the last second and didn't quite make the triple and endoed into the next jumP." Lites Eastem Regional Supercross Series at the RCA Dome in lndianapolis. Just a week before at the Atlanta Supercross, it was Millsaps who appeared to be runninS away with the win, but a crash over aiump at the midway point of the race handed the lead back to Grant, who came it one race at a tirne.'' Grant, who so far has been in the hunt at each round but has had more than his share of mishaps and problems, proved again that he has the speed and the determination to win in this league, "l figured tonight was my night," Grant said. "l'm not going to just give it up and let anyone iust pull away. I'm going to fEht and do what I can to stay up front."
