E t didn't take Team Green's Destry Abbott long to rebound from his second-place finish behind defending series champ Russell Pearson at the opener of the AMIVFMF RacinS National Hare & Hound Series. Round two - the 55th Annual Moose Run put on by the Four Aces Motorcy- cle Club at the Spangler Hills' Wagon Wheel Staging Area - saw him turn the tables on Pearson by getting a great start on his Pro Circuit/Dunlop/THOR-backed KX450F, iumpinS out to an early lead and stretching it from there to the finish. Pearson, on the other hand, struggled after getting a bad start on his Montclair Yam ahalZip-Iy Racing/Moose-sponsored YZ450E Though he man- aged to charge back into contention on the second loop of the approximately 83-mile race. several mis- takes prevented him from getting any further up the pack than third. SroRY AND PHoros BY MaRK KaRlYa Splitting the two was Honda's Kendall Norman and his Precision Concepts/Pro Honda Oils/O'Neal CRF450X. Though he had st4€d in bed for most of the week due to a cold, Norman didn't show any ill effects in his riding, and he stayed within a couple min- utes of Abbott all the way in matching his career-best runner-up placing. With Southern California in the midst of an unusual winter drought, conditions promised to be dry and dusty, putting a premium on the start. "l knew the start wirs super imponant," Abbott said, "l was on the far right on the startin8 line, and I just had a really good line that was basically straight to the bomb. "Kendall Norman and I came together about halfway down the bomb; I had about a half a bike- length on him, and my bike was able to pull him iust a little bit so luckily, I gqt him. I got to the main trail that I wanted to, and it worked out." t I l I J a I I t sl a I I il K.'8 T \ a l{ t" I I LS Q=,.i I ? -t I I L ,FI rdt \ ,l' -l \ 4 af, n { / nuli, t' a': t a'7 a I I I F a 3 --! ,* R a I lh fl I f to l. a-- I r \ Y I I I \ L.J I ry FIET , tr r- D006 .rcE e- i\ I I \l \ ! )rs il I Hondo ls moking noire on lhe off-rood rccne ogoin, ecpcciolly - with the help of Kendoll $.'Norqrcn's recond-ploce fi nirh.
