the chillint win.
Three
inches of snow fell the Saturday
night belore the
Quicksilver
National, which caused an hour-and-a-half start
delay and
the third loop
to be torsed out, but when the llrst
rider left at
9:30
a.m., the competitive
action
quickly
heated up. Garrahan
and the
defendint
champ, KTM s Mike Laffeny, went back
and forth all day,
while tradint top
scores at the check, and the two
eventually
fin-
ished off
the
abbreviated ride tied at 16
points
each, but Garrahafi
came
away with the victory via the tie-breaker
scores.
Third place went to Gas Gas-mounted
Fred Hoess, who
hails
from New
Jersey
and is no stranSer to
wet and cold conditions.
Fourth went to Virginia's Stephen
Edmondson, aboard
a KTM, while
local favorite Billy Russell, who was
still feeling the
eflects of the llu,
rounded out the top live overall
on his KTH.
Sixth went to Nick Fahringer
(GG),
followed by Rich
Lafferty (KTM),
Russell Bobtitt
(KTM),
Steve Silvestri
(KTM)
and Tirne Stowe
(Suz).
