I ,v Jacob Marsack: Making Waves Of the six rounds of the Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Series that have been run so far, 29 different riders have made it to the Supercross-class main event. Almost all of them have been full-on or semi factory-backed riders. Only a few have been true privateers, like Michigan'sJacob Marsack. who made the main event at the muddy San Francisco Supercross. The lg-year-old currently rides a Yamaha under the SoCal Racing/Lucas Oil banner, and we caught up with him at the San Diego Supercross and talked to him about his first trip to the main event cn: Flrst of ell. wh€r€ arE gou from and how long havc aou bc€n raclngP iacobmarsack: I'm from Allenton, MichiSani it's up ther€ by the thumb area. In practice I went pret- ty ggod and turned some fast lap times. I got sixth in the heat race and I'm like, "Wow I'm doing really good." lt was surprising, And then I got second in my semi there, so I was like, "Wow, I'm in!" cn: What was th€ n€xt thlng that w€nt through Uoun mind oncc gou r€Ellz€d that gou had madc itP iacobmarcack I thought, "This is my day to get sorne points and get a number and everphing." So I was pretty happy. cn: How did it go for gou in th€ maln €vGntP iacobmarsack I had a good gate pick and took an inside gate, which wasn't too good, but after the third cornei it worked out pretty good and I was up there. CominS in to the lirst turn, I got hit by a big puddle, and it just got m€ soaked right away, so I was like, "l'm in it now. I've got to do it now." lgot up there in sewnth, actuall, running up there real good, but I made a bobble on the backside ofa iump, and I picked k up real quick. I'm like, "Man, I've got to make up some time." So I'm like, "l've got to do some doubling," then I dou- bled into some mud and ,ust stalled it and went back to l7th. Then lworked back up to l3th, I got right back up to [Ryan] Clark and almost got him for l2th. Dang, I needed to get him! cn: You didnt mak€ th€ main at Anah€im lll: What happened th€r€? iacobmarsackr That was not my kind of track, it was slippery and I'm from the East Coast. so I'm more used to the tacky track and stufl- But lfelt like I rode good, but I didn't get the starts I needed. I was back there and kind of chilled and didn't make any aggressive passes or nothing. cn: ls this Uour first g€ar on th€ 45OP jacobmarsack Yes. I rode the 250F last year and did the whole West Coast for MxPrivateer. They split up, so l'm kind ofon my own. ltried [the 450] out locaj- ly last year and raced my first National on it at Unadilla and did pretty good on it, so I stuck with it and decided to do the whole year [2006] on it. Hopefully I can factoD/ ride on one of rhe 250Fs next year. Kit Polmer 25 TSSUES (6 MONTHS) ONLY $23 50 rssuEs (1 YEAR) ONLY $45 - VISA @ SUBSCRIPTION PRICE: Save 70% off the cover price!
