The
second-moto

taken by

his
patented
far-outside, wild-man
line.

time
Holum
got
a latrle better
start, and he
began houndint
Southard,
staying right on
his rear fender.
Holum had
some
close encounters
several
times on many of the
slick, hard-
packed

made it appear
that Southard
might
just
hanS
on to the lead. lt was not
to be,
though, as Holum
caught
right up to Southard
when
Southard slid our
on the face
of a
iump.
Holum
.hen
took over th€ lead,
which he would
never
relinquish.
