Since the Al'4A no longer runs flat track races on the West Coast, I came up with the idea of combininS TT racinS with Supercross. I say remove the berms - make all the turns flat, thus forcing the racers to back into the turns and get sidewa),s coming out. Keep the whoops and the iumps sort of a like a vi5it to the past when Steve Wise rode the Houston TT It would be really cool to watch carmichael, Stewart, Reed. et al. deal with this. And you can bet it wouldn't take long for these guys to totally 8et with the pro- gram. Flat tract devotees like myself would get a chance to see the cornering stlle we appreciate, while the Supercross set would not be deprived of the specQcular ,umping they are accustomed to. I would even go 5o lar as to suggest that the sliding would appeal to them. Berms are certainly the fast way around, but they are boring to watch as far as I am con- cerned. I enioyed the racin8 at the Phoenix Supercross, but somehow it reminded me of the old-time scrambles with ,umps thrown in, Every time a berm started to form they immediately scraped it flat again.
