Rauniolr Arcno Dollor, Tx Togota AMA National Ar€nacross Scra€s Arenacross Series marked the return to action after a month-long hiatus from rac- ing. Not since December 4 in Rockford, lllinois, have the bikes hit the dirt in the AMA-sanctioned Arenacross Series. This meant a lot of time off, which some rid- ers, like Sellards, took advantage of. This was +parerit riSk out ofthe Sate on Friday night at Reunion Arena Sellar& was on it. So much so, that Johr6on said after- ward, "l had nothing for him [on Friday]." Sellards took off after Johnson in the main, like a cat after a canary and rode his tail until passinS Johnson with several I+s to go, and then checked out. "Basically, I feelthat if I want to win the championship, I have to win - period," Sellards said. "l have no other rule-" Still. Johnson has a solid lead with five races remaining. A lot of time and a lot of races left - anything can happen. However, it's apparent thatlohnson is just ar hurEry as Sellards for the title, as he F'lt on a char8e Saturday night from dead h5t to make the podium. And this may yEry well be a key footnote to remember iflohnson goes on to win the title. Roundlng out the podium during Sellards' l- | performance were his team- mate lelf Northrop, who went 3-2, and Johnson, who went 2-3. Equally as exciting was the AMA Lites class racing and the battle between Suzuki-backed Jim Neese and Unbound Energ/VRl'4.com Racing's Shawn Clark. Having won the first nighr after catching Neese, who had pulled the holeshot, the stage was set for a race on saturday that would brinS the fans to their feet, as well. "We diced it up big-time," Clark said of his race whh Neese. "l got the holeshot and he came in and slammed me. lt was a good move, but real a8gressive. I was able to catch him about midway though the race and hold on for the win. We came off the track hlgh-fiving and stuff." f,Il fuuNloN ArtNA Dauas, l:xas RrsulBl J^NUAnY &7, 2006 (RouND 5 ot lO) I frldry AIENACioSS uTEl: L shM ch.k ((rw): 2. i.m Nca (SE); 3. r6dy Molitor oram)i,1.
