I just wanted to thank Chuck Ferrari for saling all thore cool things about me being a great rider and all. That was really nice of him to say. I know you said that our KTI'4 looked to be not as good as some of the other bikes, but the truth is... I don't think I was 100- percent prepared for the big, giant whoops at Anaheim- I have been practicing at both the KTM test track and the Supercross track at Competitive Edge in Hesperia, and the whoops are medium to big at both places. So that's really what I practice on; medium- to big-sized whoops, and that's it. When lgot to Anaheim, lwas like, "Dang, these are huge whoops." They looked like the whoops I saw at Andrew Short's practice track in Hemet - and like the ones I saw at the Honda test track. I iust want to say that (and no one at KTH put me up to this) my bike is really Ereat and it handles b€tter than anything l've ever ridden before. And for sure my bike is the fastest bike on the track - hands down! lf there is something or someone to blame for my trouble in the whoops at Anaheim, it would be myself for not being prepared for whoops that big. I am a Supercross rookie. l'm tryinS to learn, so this is a new thing for me. Now I bet- ter go and find the biggest whoops ever and figure out how to ride them just like the medium to big whoops I have been riding on. Thank, Chuck, and to all those who are behind me. /Ulke lrelti Yio the tnternet Alrighty Then Maybe you were a little "assholish" when you told the guy: "Glad we could help out with your parentinS problem." I also had to explain your photos to a youngster (Riclry Carmichael's Rider of the Year feature in lssue number 50). Maybe you guys are the ones with the drinking problem, as the photos looked to be cropped by some high school senior who wanted very much to get the booze in the photo. lim Ha'lne5 vio the lrfterret And now I owoit the letters wherc we hove to exploin why we ollowed o reoder to use the word (?) o&Ao$*#@#$... Editor Dangerous Track? It appears track designers for the Anaheim Supercross were more interested seein8 our heroes in,ured rather than providing a venue for a good race. (l admit it was a good race up until the point where Ricky Carmichael fell.) I love the idea of separating the best and the others who spend themsefues in a worthy cause. but also do not like wit- nessing people getting hurt unnecessarily. I have doubts we can maintain this sport if we continue to put racers' safety behind selling tickets to the loud-mouthed losers who cheer when they crash. Bobbl Longin via the lntern,et Vale And The Cigs Would the press stop the BS about Valentino Rossi not wanting to ride for tobacco companies (Camel has iust signed with the factory Yamaha team)? This Rossi claim has been going on for years, Yamaha certainly does not need this sponsor's money. I have yet to hear an offi- cial statement from Valentino. ls it to kick Max Biaggi while he is down? l. Born ia the tfiernet We Freakin' Rule I iust want to thank you for putting out the best motorcycle ma8azine out there- I recently received a free subscription to another m€azine and let me tell you - i( is iunk! My first issue arrived in November, and it was recapping the Glen Helen National. I was there, watched the TV coverage, and read your coverage all in the same month. And they sent me old news. Let's iust say that I will not be renewing my sub- scription with them. Just one more thing - Go, James! Matt Rodriguez vis the ,nternet Another Stewart Fan ln my opinion, Rich/ Carmichael sets the gold standard for how to behave as a pro- fessional athlete- So my hat's off to James Stewan- He had a rough time last year, but he has come through it a better racer and person. He has been more patient on the track, more humble in victory and I'm sure he will be more gracious in defeat when that time comes. Lessons well learned, Bubba. Good on ya, mate, Mike Geiger Huntingaon Beoch, CA TV Programming The ,ollowing was sent to the program director of WryF in Nashville, Tennessee: "l just wanted to let you know that I was disappointed with your proSramming deci- sion, which has a bearing on my choice of what network ro watch other programming on. I hope that you will recognize what 95 percent of the CBS affiliates in the countrl have agreed upon. Also, Supercross atten- dance averages over 800,000 individuals per year - a rather popular sport indeed." Mark Binda, the program director, responded with: "We will be carrying the future events." Dong Hoh vio the ,nternet The following rs the resronse to the Superctoss pto8,.omming issue reieosed /ost week by Cleor Chonne, s Ken Hudgens. lt wos sent to Bindo by reodet Doug Holt: "We hqve seen ond rcceived numercus comploints rclot- ed to specifrc mdrkets not cotrying the CBS broodcost of Amp'd Mobile World Supercross CPlAntp'd Mobile AlvlA Supercross Series yes- tedoy.
