James
Stewart's
latest
success
at the
opening round of the
Amp'd Mobile Al*1A Supercross
Series at
An8el Stadium
just
might
be his most defining
yet.
Not only did he come from behind
to beat defend-
ing champ
Ricky Carmichael
and former champ
Chad
Reed. but he showed
something that
he really
hasn't shown much
of throughout his
young,
though
lengthy, racing career
-
patience.
Stewan
has never been one to sit back and
wait in
those rare instances
when he isn't
leading a race. Many
times
in
the
past,
Stewart has ended up on
his head
after making unnecessary
and desperate
pass
aftemPts
to
get to the front, even if he had
plenty of time
on his
side.
Perhaps
you could simply chalk this up to imma-
turity. But at Anaheim l, Stewart
proved
to the sellout
crowd
of 45,050
that those days are behind
him, as
the Floridian rode a smart,
patient and,
yes,
mature
race to flnish ahead
of Reed and Carmichael
and take
the early
points lead in the
Af'1A
Supercross
Series
while further extending his
lead in the three-race-old
Amp'd Mobile
World Supercross GP Series.
"l

it was a

Team Kawasaki
rider said.
''l
feel really confident
in
my
position
and
in my conditioninS, so
it is
8ood."
So
good,
in Iact, that Stewart has made
it
quite
