class, with Gary Semics, Brad Lackey, Gerrit Wolsink and Steve
Stackable completing the top five... Saddleback also hosted the
Baja de Saddleback o„-road race that A.C. Bakken won... We
rode a handmade Yamaha YZ monoshocker fitted with a four-
stroke motor.
We got the chance to ride Steve Eklund's 562cc
Rotax-powered ATK Superbiker 40 years ago,
which featured a countershaft-mounted rear
disc brake... We had coverage of the Barstow-
to-Vegas Hare & Hound. Husqvarna's Dan
Smith edged out Honda's Chuck Miller for the victory...
We showed our readers some of Kawasaki's latest production
motorcycles and a couple of Benelli/Moto Guzzis, one of them
an all-terrain (ADV) model... We followed along with Freddie
Spencer and Doug Chandler, who were in San Jose testing
