Beaubier, who suffered two bike-destroying crashes on Friday, crossed the line for his 71st AMA/MotoAmerica Super- bike race win 0.84 of a second up from Kelly and Gillim. Her- rin pushed back to fourth, with the exceptional Jayson Uribe (OrangeCat BMW) taking fifth on the debut for the team in the premier Superbike class after numerous years in the now- defunct Stock 1000 class. "I don't even know what to say. This year has been one of the craziest Superbike years I've ever had, with the speed Bob [Fong] had at the beginning and middle of the season, and then Herrin coming on strong," Beaubier said. "Bob had a great pace at the beginning. It sucks he fell over. Then after he did, I just kept nailing those laps, those high 20s, low 21s. My bike felt the best it's felt all weekend. I just can't believe it. Bob rode incredibly this year. His pace has been untouchable at times. We were able to get there this weekend, which we didn't see that happening Friday." Later, on social media, Fong talked about the hand gestures he threw at Herrin. "First off, I'm not going to hurt anybody. I never want to hurt my competitors or anything. I personally felt like giving this gesture was a little bit better than giving the bird on live television. I just did that because I was really, really angry. Obviously, I just literally lost a championship, and also, I just didn't really care for how he [Herrin] was racing. I thought it was really dangerous, brake checking and all that stuff. I wanted to apologize, one, to my team, my family, friends, Josh—I didn't mean anything. I'm not go - ing to physically hurt anybody." Beaubier is thus champion for a sixth time in MotoAmerica Superbike on 371 points, 25 up on Herrin in second, with Fong slipping to third, 32 points be - hind Beaubier.
