After coming into the series ranked first in seeded points, Jus- tin Cooper ran with the front pack for most of the first moto and rounded out the top five overall. RJ Hampshire put up a good fight for sixth, beating Cooper Webb, Joey Savatgy, Justin Barcia and Justin Hill. In the final SMX points tally, Jett Lawrence finished with 166 points to Hunter's 151 and Tomac's 135. Roczen finished fourth with 117 points, just two ahead of Cooper and five ahead of Webb. Hampshire (109), Sex - ton (92), Joey Savatgy (89) and Barcia (86) completed the top 10. I had just hit that for 10 laps, it would've been a different race, but I never caught onto it." Ken Roczen used his usual sprint speed to finish fourth overall as well as fourth in the SMX points. "P4 in the championship was the best-case scenario, and that's exactly what we executed last night," Roczen said. Team captain Eli Tomac said re- garding the replacements, "They need to be knocking down the door." The Motocross of Nations takes place in two weeks at Iron- man Raceway in Indiana. Briefly... RYDER D UPDATE Ryder DiFrancesco had a scary crash in the first 250SMX moto that put the GasGas rider out for the night. DiFrancesco got out of shape on the bike, crossing into Haiden Deegan's path just past a jump. Deegan's wheels clipped DiFrancesco's helmet while in the air, with both riders going down. Deegan quickly got up and carried on, and DiFrancesco slowly walked off the track with the aid of the track's medical team. DiFrancesco later said on social media, "Super lucky to just have a concussion." DAVIES PARKS IT Monster Energy Star Racing Ya- maha's Cole Davies crashed out of the evening's racing. "Unfor- tunately, it just wasn't our day," he said. "It wasn't due to a lack of effort; we just couldn't catch a break. I came into the week- The moment of the 250SMX race. Haiden Deegan went for the jugular but put himself and Jo Shimoda in the dirt.
