Championship, he did end the
season with a class-leading
eight wins while leading H-D
to the Manufacturer's crown.
Afterward, he gave Daniels his
due and then prepared for his
next immediate challenge—
fatherhood, with wife, Shayna
Texter-Bauman, now weeks
away from giving birth.
"What a good season, right?"
he said. "It was a career season.
It just wasn't enough. I need to
say thank you to my Rick Ware
Racing/Parts Plus/Latus Motors
team; everyone is behind me:
Dave [Zanotti], Michelle [Disalvo],
Bryan Bigelow, Ryan Connelly,
my wife, Shayna. They all worked
so hard. We did more than I
I had some speed, but I just
didn't want to get caught up in
anything hairy. And obviously,
having that crash at the
beginning, I hope those guys
are okay. That just kind of made
the nerves even worse than they
already were.
"I have to give it up to the
whole team. Everyone has
been amazing. And my parents,
they've sacrificed so much. I
dreamed of this since I was
a little kid: being the Grand
National Champion. What a year.
Briar was super tough. We went
back and forth, back and forth.
It's just an amazing moment."
While Bauman was unable to
claim his third Grand National

and Mission Foods/Roof

After the race, an emotional

-
whelming. It really hasn't set
in.
The weeks leading up to
this were stressful. Today we
struggled a little bit early on.
That's kind of been the story
of our year. We had a tough
year mentally, physically, and
emotionally. We struggled for
whatever reason.
"It's been a stressful day. I
was slow, then fast, and then
in the main event, I felt like
Bauman did what he had to do, and that
was win. Unfortunately for him, though,
it wasn't enough to land a third title.
