said Tomac. "Of course, I would like to finish up top. I did what I could. I felt like I rode bet- ter that [second] moto, busted out some good lines, but once again, not quite enough. So, we'll keep pushing. Yes, I'm down 16 [points], which is a little unfor - tunate, but it is what it is now. We're in the mix, we're in the hunt, so we'll take it to Vegas." Roczen finished a strong sec - ond in moto one, but a fifth in race two dropped him to fourth overall. "Pretty happy with how this weekend went," said Roczen. "P2 in the first main getting heat from Eli the whole main. Main two was good, too. The first lap wasn't the greatest for me, and I couldn't quite make the pass happen on Cooper [Webb] after tying in points with Jett (Jett's moto win in race two proved to be the tiebreaker). Even with the hard-packed racing surface, Tomac also opted for the scoop tire, which put him up front early on in race one. He kept Roczen in his sights for the whole race but had to deal with a clos - ing Jett in the final few laps to maintain a spot on the podium. Moto two proved to be a bet- ter ride, as he improved by one position but also stayed closer to Jett throughout the 18-lap duration. Lapped riders gave Tomac a chance on the final lap, but it was too little too late, and he settled for second. His 3-2 scores put him third overall. "That was some good rac - ing there, just good, fun racing," ROUND 2 / SEPTEMBER 13, 2025 THE DOME AT AMERICA'S CENTER | ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI P74 SMX NEXT The SMX Next World All-Stars were back on the track for the SMX Next class's finale. With double points, the single-race format saw Yamaha's Ryder Malinoski win the main event in a wire-to-wire victory. Kayden Minear recovered from an eighth- place start to take second place and earned enough points to clinch the SMX Next World All- Stars Championship. Yamaha's Kade Johnson put together consistent laps to capture the final podium spot in front of the St. Louis fans. "I felt good out there all weekend," Minear said. "The bike is performing unbelievably. Shout-out to the whole team. Shout-out to my trainer, Swanie [Gareth Swanepoel], Wil [Hahn], Ms. Jeannie Carmichael at home. We've been putting in so much ef- fort and so much overtime, so I'm happy it pays off." FORKNER OUT After a top-five finish last week- end, Austin Forkner missed out on his home race in St. Louis. The Triumph Factory racer twisted his knee in qualifying and later elected to sit out the night show. "Austin dabbed his leg in a corner in qualifying and sustained a knee injury that we are still evaluating, but it put him out for the night," Briefly... SUPERMOTOCROSS I MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Eli Tomac stayed in the hunt to finish third in 450SMX for the second week in a row.
