Zmarzlik Scores Record-Tying Win P olish icon Bartosz Zmarzlik secured his place among speedway's top competitors after winning his sixth FIM Speedway GP World Champion- ship, tying the record, by just one point at Vojens Speedway Center in Denmark on Saturday, September 13. On the night the home of Dan- ish speedway celebrated its 50th anniversary, Zmarzlik, 30, joined the ranks of late New Zealand hero Ivan Mauger and Swedish legend Tony Rickardsson as a six-time FIM Speedway World Champion after finishing sec - ond at the Deluxe Homeart FIM Speedway GP of Denmark. He also became the first rider in the sport's history to win four consecutive World titles, adding to his victories in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2020. Australian star Brady Kurtz wrapped up an impressive Speedway GP debut season in Vojens by capturing the silver medal after becoming the first SGP rider in the series' 30-year history to win five consecutive rounds. This added to his victo - ries in Gorzow, Malilla, Riga and Wroclaw, surpassing the four-in- a-row record previously held by Rickardsson in 2005. Great Britain racer Dan Bew- ley bagged the Speedway GP bronze medal, which was his first-ever podium finish in the World Championship. CN OVERALL (Top 5) 1. Brady Kurtz 2. Bartosz Zmarzlik 3.
