"What a good way to end the season,"
Hunter said. "I'm happy with that. It took a
true team effort this weekend to make all
this happen, so I'm grateful to have such an
amazing group of people around me."
Cooper finished the day third overall. The
Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider
launched off the line in the first moto and
challenged Jett on the opening lap. Cooper
looked spunky early in the race and was
determined not to relinquish a podium spot
without a fight. He later competed with
Hunter in the final laps. Cooper used the
lapped riders to his advantage and man
-
aged to hold off the number-96 machine
until the checkered flag. He again stayed
within podium range for most of the second
moto, but a small fall allowed RJ Hampshire
to overtake him late in the race. A 2-4 result
still placed Cooper third on the podium and
the mechanics' area and, unfortu-
nately, was concussed. All in all, it
wasn't a great day for us."
PRADO'S
GREEN BLUES
After a disappointing first year
racing in the USA for his new
Monster Energy Kawasaki Team,
four-time World Champion Jorge
Prado, who finished sixth in the
outdoors 450MX class, shared
some thoughts on social media
following another disappoint-
ing result at Budds Creek. "It
was a very tough season, to say
the least," Prado said. "Cruising
around every single race was
heartbreaking for me, especially
knowing my capabilities. [I] never
felt comfortable on the bike, not
even a little! This builds to an
unsafe feeling on it. [I] didn't
expect this year to go this way at
all. Happy to be in one piece and
healthy. Hopefully, we'll be back
where we belong soon. Note: With
'cruising,' I meant that I couldn't
ride to my full potential, even
though I gave my 100 percent and
had to ride safely."
