looked comfortable as he led
all but three laps throughout the
day. Aside from a brief off-track
moment during the early part of
moto one, the number 18 kept
it steady and easily won both
races in typical Jett-dominant
fashion. The Unadilla track was
one of the toughest of the year,
but Lawrence hopped, skipped
and jumped his way to a 1-1
450MX
After a stiff one-lap penalty last
week at Ironman, Jett Law-
rence was eager to return to his
winning ways. The chance to
claim his second 450MX title
was within reach, and the young
phenom had never lost two
overalls in a row since moving
to the 450MX class. Despite
the circumstances, Lawrence
19 JORDON SMITH
7TH (8-9) 250MX
Jordon Smith got the better end of the
deal, finishing seventh overall with
8-9 results. "It was a solid day, de-
spite crashing once in each moto," he
said. "I was trying to pass into sixth
when I fell in moto one; it was late in
the race. I was in a similar position
when I made the mistake in moto two,
but my riding was maybe the best that
it has been all year. We made some
positive improvements on the bike."
51 JUSTIN BARCIA
8TH (9-8) 450MX
Justin battled his way to another top
10 finish at his home race. "We made
a lot of positive adjustments, and I felt
better each time I went on the track,"
Barcia said. "The first moto was super
tricky, because the track was one of
the more gnarly Unadillas that I have
raced. It was very busy out there,
and I didn't get the greatest of starts
today, as I wasn't on the paddle tire.
I ate a lot of roost, but all in all we
charged hard, made improvements."
MYOWNRACE
Hunter Lawrence (96) was the only rider who mathematically had a shot
of prolonging the championship. He tried hard but came up short.
