Fong would come home for
his fifth straight win in race one,
run in controversial circum-
stances after oil was dropped
on
the racing line in a crash in-
volving Max Flinders (Thrashed
Bike
Racing Yamaha) and Deion
Campbell (BPR Racing Yama-
ha). A red flag was called, and
a big clean-up
was undertaken
by MotoAmerica in the turn five,
six and seven area, but on the
then he had a massive save at
turn seven when he hit more oil,
the Ducati snapping sideways,
forcing him to the edge of the
track and down to 10th place.
Herrin would fight back to
seventh, but it was a sign of
things to come for the Georgian.
Fong and Beaubier cleared off
in race one to wage their own
battle, with Beaubier trying the
outside line on the final lap off
sighting lap, Herrin in particular
was unimpressed with the rac
-
ing surface and gestured to the
marshals to
abort the start and
continue cleaning up.
His words fell on deaf ears,
and the green light lit up, Herrin
scything from fifth on the grid to
lead down the back straight.
The number-one outbraked
himself and hit the oil-dry chalk,
losing the place to Fong, and
